Welcome to the Web Design Workshop
Introduction
In this Workshop we will be helping you discover what's behind web pages and why designing and updating these pages can be different from working with many of the software applications we use every day such as Microsoft Office or Works.
We will be working with Notepad and Dreamweaver, a WSIWYG
web editor, but before we work with this software we would like to introduce you to what is really behind this editor and any others you may have used such as Microsoft
FrontPage.
It doesn't matter which one of the editors you use they all use HTML
or the later XHTML
for basic pages and also CSS
a recognised standard for styling your web pages. There are other scripting languages which can be used but we will not be going into them in this course, although we will introduce them in a later section.
This Workshop will include lots of hands on activities giving you chance to experiment with (X)HTML, CSS and a Web editor.
Please ask questions and enjoy the course!
